Craftapaloosa

Well, I'm back from Hawaii and getting ready to go to Seattle for Time Out for Women, but I have a few minutes and thought I would blog. Because, really, what else do I have to do...pack. Seriously.

So, my mom was here for a week. Being that she had hurt her knee and that the weather was rather, well, yucky, I thought it would be a fun week to do some crafting. And shopping because, really, my mom likes to shop and I like to tag along.

First off, we made this super cute button for Sarah's birthday.
It took a couple of trips to the craft store and some thinking, but I think it turned out great.

Why would Sarah want one of these? Well, a few years ago, we went to Disneyland for my birthday. Last year, I was talking to Sarah about the button and how much I liked it and she said she wanted one. I tried to modify my button but couldn't so I promised her a new button for her birthday.

Then we made these...
(That is also a sneak peek into our new guest room, which isn't quite done yet but will be as soon as Brent gets home.) A friend of mine showed me this blog with the super cute wreath. Once again, I improved the idea, for me anyway, and these are what came out of it. They took FOREVER and a lot of fabric, but I really like how they turned out. Brent says they look like brains, but I think he's crazy. They look like cabbages, duh!

Here's a close up.
It just doesn't look like it would take that long, but it did.

Then we tried to make some beeswax lip balm. I got the recipe from a show on PBS - Katie Brown's Workshop. It looked so fun and easy. Well. Nope. They turned into some really great candles. Ho hum. Now I have a ton of beeswax to make candles out of. Maybe for the new computer room.

Then...I know, a lot of crafting...we were going to make these Easter Eggs. This is what we ended up with...
They look more like Easter balls than eggs, but they turned out cute. I'm just waiting to find them all over the house...because of Daisy who likes to hide Easter eggs.

And, finally, I made a new skirt on Friday for Easter. I used some Hawaiian fabric we bought LONG ago and didn't really know what to do with. It turned out cute. However, I didn't take a picture of it and now it's in Hawaii waiting for Brent to pack it and come home.

And so ends Craftapaloosa 2011. I really think this should be the thing every year! As I said, I'm a crafter through and through and so is my mom.

It was super fun and I think everything (but the lip balm) turned out really cute...especially your skirt. It should be a yearly thing!! Thanks for putting up with my bum knee and giving me TLC! I loved the visit - hopefully I will be 100% when we come back in August!!
Love ya!

I love your decorations!!
I made a heart wreath in pink like that for Valentines Day and two pink balls! They are easy but they do take a long time.
Glad you're home safe...have fun at Time out for Women!!!
