For More Family Fun...

Ok, Ok, it's been a few days, but I have really good, ok, kind of good reasons that I haven't finished blogging. None of them are too exciting, so let's just get on with the blog.

Here's our list:
1) See Brent's Mom before she goes on her mission
2) Go to Swiss Days and get way too many great ideas
3) Wish my Dad a very happy birthday
4) Go to those places that we just don't have here, or are harder to get to, ie: Swiss Days, Deseret Book, Distribution, you get the idea!
5) Enjoy time with family

Item #2 was the next thing I needed to cross off. What is Swiss Days? It's this really great craft show in Midway, Utah. Midway is in the mountains so it's a lovely drive up there. All around a great time.

This year, my Grandma decided to come with us. We were really excited to show her how fun Swiss Days could be.

How fun is Swiss Days you ask? For a crafter, it's RIDICULOUSLY fun! There are quite literally hundreds of ideas and fun things to buy. Did I take any pictures? Nope, not a one, but we had a great time. It rained a little bit, which just made it so there were fewer people there, which is just fine with me.

I did get a few things, most of which had to be shipped home, oops, but they were well worth it! (Brent may disagree, but I think they were)

I love Swiss Days!
2) Go to Swiss Days and get way too many great ideas

We also got a chance to wish my Dad a very happy birthday, a few days early! (We wished Katie a very happy birthday too since they share the same birthday!) I did take pictures there. Not many and sadly none of the birthday boy, but I did take pictures!

My family is not, shall we say, very cooperative when it comes to pictures. After this, I gave up.

Except for Cadence, my cousin James and his wife Chelcie's new baby. She had very little to say about the pictures.

Ok, probably because she can't talk yet, but still she didn't complain about the pictures. Now, being outside in the hot, that she did complain about. Poor thing. It is hot in Utah!

Oh, and inanimate objects let me take their pictures.
This is my Dad's cake. The flower on top has a sparkler and candles and plays happy birthday. It was kind of cool. Well, actually, I wish my mom would have warned me before I was lighting it that there was a sparkler. That kind of made me jump.

And...no picture of my mom and no good pictures of my cousin Jennifer's little girl Sarah. Sorry about that guys.

Happy Birthday Dad!

3) Wish my Dad a very happy birthday

After that, we just did some shopping at places we don't have around here. Ok, there is a Deseret Book, but it's far away and hard to get to. I got a new temple dress and Brent got new temple pants. Woho! Stuff like that.

We did go to my new favorite store - The Wood Connection. This is a great place! Lots of fun things to make and do, which you know I love. The thing with the Wood Connection is that they have this great blog where they show all their great stuff, but then they don't ship things. RUDE!

I came home with a lot of projects:
I am so excited. In fact, maybe I'll work on that this afternoon. Hmmm....that sounds so much more fun than paying bills!

Oh, wait, I forgot one picture from Brent's Mom:
aka Sister L*. Good luck in Houston! Can't wait to hear all the great stories.

It was a wonderful long weekend! And nice to see so much of our family! Love you guys!

Another Item Checked Off the List

Remember our list for Utah?
1) See Brent's Mom before she goes on her mission
2) Go to Swiss Days and get way too many great ideas
3) Wish my Dad a very happy birthday
4) Go to those places that we just don't have here, or are harder to get to, ie: Swiss Days, Deseret Book, Distribution, you get the idea!

Still working on it!

Monday dawned bright and cheery and it was time to take Brent's mom to the MTC. It seemed a little backwards that we were the ones who were dropping her off there, but that's ok.

Everyone met up at the Provo Temple to .... take some more pictures! Woho!

Before everyone got there, I took some pictures of the Temple.

 Then some more pictures...

She's ready to go!

 And more pictures...

There were some jumping pictures, but I never did get a good one. You'll have to look at another blog for that.

And then the scrunch pictures got going...

Nice smile Ryan!

Even better!

Originally Jared wasn't in this picture, but he jumped in. Silly Jared!
Then we went to the MTC. There was a little bit of confusion dropping her off...things have changed since the last kid went on a mission, but we figured it out and got our goodbye hugs! So excited for her next 18 months!

After that, Jenny wanted to go to their Dad's grave. This was the first time all 6 of them had been there since the funeral. I took a picture, but I must warn you now. I don't know what happened. You might find it cool, but I find a little creepy...
I mean, everyone's black and white, but the grass is green. It's weird. I don't know what I did. But, had to share!

We were all starving, so it was off to Hires Big H for lunch.
Thanks, Ryan, for taking the picture!
Fry sauce...oh how I love you!

After that, it was time for most of us to go our separate ways. It was really fun seeing everyone who was there! Guess we'll see you again in 18 months.

So that's #1 completely check off the list! And about half of #5. We are on a roll!

Checking Off Our List

What did you do last weekend? We were in Utah. There were quite a few things on our list (I am a HUGE list maker. I even sometimes put stuff on my list that I've done just so I can cross it off. It's awesome) to do while we were there:
1) See Brent's Mom before she goes on her mission
2) Go to Swiss Days and get way too many great ideas
3) Wish my Dad a very happy birthday
4) Go to those places that we just don't have here, or are harder to get to, ie: Swiss Days, Deseret Book, Distribution, you get the idea!
5) Enjoy time with family

I'm happy to report that we checked everything off our list while were there! Woho!

List Item #1 and #5:
Brent's mom decided she wanted to go on a mission so we've been having a lot of fun experiencing this with her from a far. She got her call on August 13th (ish, I can't remember the exact date) and it said that she will be serving in the Texas Houston South Mission working on family history and document preservation. Who knew. But then the biggest bombshell - she would be reporting to the MTC on September 3rd. That was only 3 weeks away.

Brent and I had been discussing going to see her before she left, but we didn't realize we'd be going that quickly. Because of some car issues, we thought we were going to have to drive - sigh - but at the almost last minute, we figured out the car issues and flew. Woho!

For the first time in quite a few years, all of Brent's siblings were in the same place at the same time. We did miss Steve, Emmy, Meg, Alyssa and Eli since they had to stay home, but they were there in spirit!

On Saturday, Leslie had an open house at an outside pavilion, in August, in Utah. No worries. Well, a HUGE thunderstorm came through just as we were getting there. It POURED and the wind blew, and the thunder and lightning were right over us. It was kind of exciting and a little bit scary. But the kids love it...
Can you see the rain?

And many people braved the weather to come wish her good luck. It turned out to be a great night.

On Sunday, since we were all dooded up for church, we took some pictures.

Yep, Brent's in a suit. Doesn't he clean up nice?

All the L* kids had to have some pictures together.

With only minimal craziness...
Ok, a lot of craziness when it came to the boys...
Hey Boys!

What?
Let's take a picture of you guys! Look like you like each other.

Umm...that's not it

That's kind of the opposite of it

Getting closer
It was a lot of fun! And I had to take some other pictures too. I mean, it wouldn't be me without a scrunch picture or two.

I didn't take this picture, but I love this picture so I stole it.

I didn't take this picture either, but I had to point out one thing. Reyes is holding a bat and Cayden looks a little bit like Dracula. Just saying...

It was a great Sunday with a WONDERFUL setting apart that night! We were glad we were there.

There's part of my list checked off! I have a few other things on my list today so I'll have to finish our trip later. See you tomorrow!
