A Visit From the Parents

Not long ago, my parents came for a visit. We had a great week with really good weather. And, as always, let's relive it in pictures.

But first...the main thing we did was go to Family Day at the shipyard and since you can't bring a camera, I don't have any pictures. But, if you would like to be reminded of what it was like, go here.

There were a few differences this time. We didn't take the ferry over because it's not free this year ... stupid budget cuts ... and the line wasn't as long but still long. We got to go on an aircraft carrier...where there were a lot of sailors holding guns. And Brent's desk was still barren, but he promises me it's because he had just moved.

Now on to the things I could take pictures of:
My dad wanted to go fishing, but it seems something always happens so he can't. Or they don't catch anything but that's a different story. This year was another year when it just didn't work out. Who knew they closed fishing certain days of the week? So, Brent and Dad went to a Mariner's game instead. There was a picnic for University of Utah alumni beforehand (I know, I don't get it either) so they got dinner and a game for a pretty good deal.

Needless to say, Mom and I went to do girly things ... like a much needed pedicure and shopping.

The rest of the week was spent doing yard work (Dad moved a lot of dirt so Brent can start building the next wall in our front yard), crafting, and playing a lot of Wii golf and bowling.

We did go to Illahee State Park where I got a nice sunburn on my neck. I forgot that the sun comes out sometimes around here.
Can you find the crab in this picture? We went at low tide so we could beachcomb. It wasn't a great beachcombing day but still fun. We found out that Mom is the Geoduck Whisperer. She got sprayed by geoducks about 5 times and got me and my dad sprayed once because we were following her. It was funny.

(What is a geoduck, you ask? Oh, and by the way, it's pronounced gooeyduck. They are these weird looking clams that can get quite large. They burrow down in the wet sand and when the tide is low, they are completely buried with only a hole filled with water above them. If you walk too close to the hole, they spurt water on you. This is the best picture I could find for reasons I would rather not talk about.)

It was a BEEEE-UTIFUL day and the mountain was out...
Mt. Rainier to be exact.

And we even saw an eagle. It's not unusual to see an eagle around here but it still quite fun!

Then we planted some pots and made the corner of our deck super pretty.

And, of course, we crafted. This time we broke out the Cricut and cut some vinyl. What do you think?
This says "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble, Fire Burn and Caldron Bubble."

I started this one when Leslie was here. It's gone through a couple of changes since then, and a whole new set of vinyl, but I'm finally quite happy with it.

You can't see it very well, but it says 'Happy Halloween' on the bottom left hand corner.

(Just a reminder...you could have any of these vinyl beauties, and more, by going here.)

It was a great week! And to finish off the post, here are some pretty flower pictures.

Have a great day!

It was a fun trip but already seems like it has been AGES since we were there!! The frames with the vinyl letters turned out so cute!! It was fun making them - always like the "crafty" stuff we do!! You have a fun home and each improvement you have done has really made a difference. Can't wait to see the new ones the next time we go up there. Your yard will be amazing when it is done - can't wait!!!

Thanks again for everything!
Love you!
